Himbleton Church of England First School, Worcestershire

Outside Tour of School

In December 2001 this was the view of the front of our School as you entered from Neight Hill and walked across our playground complete with a vareity of activities.
The new building was completed in the Summer 2002. The colours are the school colours but were also very patriotic in Jubilee Year! The school logo is displayed on the blue wall.
Turning right from the playground, we go through the gate and follow the path down to the Adventure Playground. In the top corner of the field we have planted a fruit orchard to celebrate the new millennium. All the trees are local varieties and include a Worcester Black Pear as seen on our school logo.
Changes have happened since this photo was taken as it is now also the site of 'Forest School'. Read about it under Class Pages.
The Adventure Playground provides a safe environment for the children to play.
We also use it for P.E. lessons.
This elephant willow structure was planted by the children as part of their topic work on Africa. Bob Green from Bishopswood Environmental Education Centre led the project and has now returned to build an African Mud Hut!
Returning to School from the Adventure Playground, you can see a part of our large playing field providing further opportunities for play, games and sports.
Turning right from the gates and moving towards the rear of the main building we go through the garden. It has raised beds for gardening and an environmental pond which is home to a variety of mini-beasts providing an opportunity for close scrutiny of Himbleton's wildlife. In Spring a 'Snowdrop Fairy Ring' appears in the lawn and everyone is invited to stand inside and make a wish.
Situated behind the main school building is our mobile classroom and home to Key Stage Two children, known as the 'Garden Class'.
