Dear Parents
GOODBYE
At the end of last term we said goodbye to Lauren and Joshua who have gone to live in Devon.
GOVERNORS
Mr Stephen Rendle has now been appointed as the Local Education Authority Governor. He replaces Paul Hanson who recently resigned. An updated list is attached for your information.
VISITORS
Miss Davina Hutchinson has been working alongside the teachers in school on Mondays and Fridays of the first two weeks of term. She is a past pupil of the school and is gaining work experience as part of her Childhood Studies Degree.
FUNDRAISING
Fundraising events last term were great fun and raised lots of money for a worthy cause. £285 was raised and donated to the charity ?Mexico Child Link?. Many thanks for all your support.
STANDARD ASSESSMENT TASKS AND TEST
Year 2 children will be involved in SAT's during the week of 3rd - 6th May. The children will be engaged in a series of activities that will be integrated into the normal school day. Parents of these children are invited to a short meeting with Mrs Gent and Mrs Gwilliam on Friday 29th April, 9.00 - 9.30am.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
All P.E. lessons will take place in the school grounds this term. Whilst the weather remains chilly the children can continue to need a tracksuit.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
A uniform order form is attached at the end of this Newsletter. Should you wish to make an order please complete and return the form with payment by 3rd May 2005. School caps (for boys and girls) are available from the school office at £3.20 each.

TOPIC WORK
This term our topic is entitled 'Water' and will include areas of learning such as:
- Shell Ford & Bowbrook
- River Severn
- Worcester to Birmingham Canal
- Seaside
- Water cycle
- Water creatures & life cycles
- Fish
- Boats
- Pirates
- Art - Canal art, Turner, Lowry
- Poetry - Edward Lear
All the children in the school will complete walks along the River Severn and Canal, and to Shell Ford and Bowbrook. Children in Years 3 & 4 are doing their River and Canal walk today.
In mathematics we will continue with Numeracy but also cover 2 & 3 dimensional shape and capacity.
SCHOOL FETE AND BARBECUE ( SATURDAY 25th JUNE) - OWN CLOTHES DAY
On Friday 13th May children can come to school in their 'own clothes'. In return we would very much appreciate a donation for the Summer Fete Tombola stalls - childrens and adults. Any donation ranging from a jelly to a bottle of scotch would be gratefully accepted - or anything you would like to win yourself! A few suggestions are: perfume, plants, toys, books, bottles, videos, chocolates, etc.
BEACH DAY
A large quantity of sand is required for our beach day in school on Tuesday 28th June! Please see Mrs Gent if you have any ideas.
'FRIENDS' FUN DAY - REMINDER
An afternoon picnic with games will take place on the school field on Sunday 15th May, this is a free of charge event, and everyone is invited to join in the fun.
YEAR 4 AVONBROOK CLUSTER ACTIVITIES
Activities regularly take place amongst the Schools in the Avonbrook Cluster that is comprised of the following village schools: Himbleton, Crowle, Flyford Flavell, Inkberrow, Upton Snodsbury, Pinvin and Fladbury.
