In February 2005 we were very proud that our school out of the 3,544 schools that were OfSted inspected last year should be amongst the 291 that are listed as being especially successful.

3rd February 2005
Dear Parents
Many of you will have heard yesterday of the publication of The Annual Report of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools. It received wide media attention through national radio and television articles. So it is with great pleasure that I am writing to tell you that we have been informed personally by David Bell, the Chief Inspector, that Himbleton Church of England First School was included in his report.
'On 2 February 2005, I will publish my Annual Report for the academic year 2003/2004. As in previous years, I will be identifying a number of particularly successful schools. These schools were judged in their inspections to be extremely effective in providing high quality education and ensuring that their pupils achieve very well. I am pleased to tell you your school is included. It is a singular honor for your school to be identified in this way. Pleases accept my warmest congratulations and pass them onto your staff, governors and, of course, your pupils.'
David Bell
Obviously we are very proud that our school out of the 3,544 schools that were inspected last year should be amongst the 291 that are listed as being especially successful. Judging by the media reports I heard yesterday, the standards of schools have generally fallen nationally, so it is particularly flattering that we should be selected as highlighting good practice.
The Education Section of the Evening News will be carrying a story on the report and we expect to be included in this. I am sure should you not be able to buy a copy there will be one available in the office tomorrow. Can I finally say thank you to you the parents for the support that you gave us and continue to give us. Successes such as this are a team effort.
Yours sincerely
Mrs L Holdway
Chair of Governors
